Toronto strip searches completely out of control

Police board members remain uneasy about the number of strip searches carried out by officers — a third of all arrests — but proposed no policy changes at a meeting Thursday.

A report from Blair on Thursday’s agenda showed that in 2013, police strip searched 20,152 people, representing 34 per cent of all arrests made. Police found evidence such as drugs in just over 1 per cent of those searches.
